Storms can be so beautiful, the sound, the look, and the smell of rain right before it begins to fall. There’s always an excitement within when I know a storm is coming my way, and the reason for that is it brings me peace with my own thoughts.
They say it’s always calm before the storm, which indeed it is. If there’s one thing I dislike about storms, it would have to be the fact that they don’t last very long, some storms only last for half an hour then all is silent. I understand that storms come and go, but they can also do some damage to its surroundings. Some people are terrified of storms, and my guess is because they’ve seen the damage it can do which can leave them in a traumatic state. Not all people are big fans of storms, and that’s absolutely fine.
There are storms that we face in our own lives, and sometimes they can be destructive. Tragedy strikes the family, co-workers at each others throats, not enough money for bills, and I could go on and on here, so I hope you get my point. Tragedy can strike us at any time, it can bring despair, heartache, anger, bitterness, and even the thought of taking our own life away. It’s just that you have to understand that the thing’s we go through are for a reason, and that you should know that God sees you in the state that you’re in. Then there are time’s where we tend to create our own storms, and some of us won’t even realize this. We say thing’s that we don’t mean, and we act in such a way that we end up showing who we really are on the inside. Believe it or not, but we do have the ability to stir up a storm that can cause some major destruction in someone else’s life. Another thing you should know, is that not all storms don’t last that long. Isn’t that good news? In Psalms 107: 28-30 says…
Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
The main thing I got from this passage is that God is in control of everything that we go through, and no matter how dark it get’s He will guild us into a safe place. He calms us when the waters rage, the lightning grows violent, and the sound becomes too great for our hearts to handle. We are placed in storms to test our foundation, and if our foundation is just made up upon sticks, sand, dirt, well I’m pretty sure we’ll fall apart. If our foundation is built upon God, then we will stand strong against the currents, the gusty winds, and we’ll have this feeling of protection. We will go through some thing’s in our lives that will test our faith, it may leave us scarred, but we will not be defeated.
So whatever it is you’re going through, just remember God is in control. No matter how dark it get’s, He’s there in the midst of your storm.
Until next time, have a good night.
